Supporting the new Forensics Hub with Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police’s new forensic centre in Bicester aims to relocate its workforce into modern, contemporary settings, forming part of a dedicated forensic improvement programme in the region.
The project, undertaken by multi-disciplinary consultancy Pick Everard and contractor Willmott Dixon, will be the main hub for the police’s forensic investigation unit, containing laboratories, new digital technologies and dedicated training facilities.
A significant investment in its people, training and working conditions, the police’s new setting is being built as a primary base for crime scene investigations, fingerprint, digital and drugs analysis teams.
How Sypro is helping
Having been utilised across other leading projects such as the Nottingham Central Library and the University of Warwick’s Oculus building, Sypro’s leading contract management software was once again identified by Pick Everard to help streamline operations across the JCT contract.
So far 26 compensation events have been managed quickly and effectively, with the relevant team members alerted for timely discussions and collaborative problem-solving. More than 30 instructions have also been issued between the project team and Willmott Dixon, always ensuring effective communications and mitigating project risk.
A Blueprint for the Future
The new forensic centre will be a state-of-the-art facility, improving outcomes for victims of crime and aiding speed of delivery of services. In addition to day-to-day operations, the police force will have an inspiring centre to train and upskill the next generation of workers, successfully guiding it into the future.
Matt Hall, National Director at Pick Everard, said: “As project manager and quantity surveyor for the project, we are part of a focused team delivering a quality, fit for purpose building, filled with the latest technology.
“This is multi-year project, with a lot of moving parts, so choosing our longstanding partner Sypro was the logical choice to ensure project communications were and will continue to be coordinated compliantly, effectively and without additional risk.
“With completion set to take place in 2026, we’re looking forward to continuing our work with Sypro.”
