Project Overview

This project was an NHS hospital build in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Scotland. Approval of the Full Business Case was given by the Scottish Government.

The new South Glasgow Hospitals Campus will deliver a truly gold standard of healthcare on the Govan site with maternity, children’s and adult acute services all together on the one campus. It will also have the biggest Critical Care complex and one of the biggest Emergency Departments in Scotland. Brookfield Construction (UK) Limited, a major international builder have been awarded the contract to design and construct the new adult and children’s hospitals which will be the largest critical care complex in Scotland.

A new Laboratory and Facilities Management Building is also part of the project, and is currently under construction.

How did Sypro help?

The provision of an integrated system which specifically covers NEC compliance was of paramount importance. After looking at multiple Document Management based systems, the NHS project team decided this increased the process complexity. The requirement was for contract compliance as document management methods were already established.

A web based and fully compliant system was required, which allowed immediate communications to be raised and responded to from all contracted parties, with an absolute focus on simplicity in use.

Sypro was quickly identified as a suitable system for consideration. Supported in the knowledge that Sypro has been developed by highly experienced NEC professionals, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde sought agreement from their construction partner, Brookfield Construction (UK) Ltd.

The introduction of Sypro has provided the entire project team with the immediate ability to respond to risks which may impact on the delivery of our scheme. This quick response time is essential on a project of this scale.

Building a partnership with SSE

In 2012, SSE, as part of a joint venture known as Multifuel Energy Ltd., embarked on the construction of a new multi-fuel plant at Ferrybridge – a vast £300m project to develop a power station capable of delivering around 70MW of low carbon electricity – enough to power 160,000 homes.
