We recently had the chance to get to know our new Business Development Manager, Matty Hynes. From his love for Middlesbrough FC to his biggest goals for Sypro, we discovered more about Matty and the vital role he’ll play in our team.
Hi Matty, please could you tell us about your job as Business Development Manager for Sypro?
My role is to drive the company’s growth by identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with potential clients, and expanding Sypro’s market presence.
What did you do before joining the company?
I worked for NBS (National Building Specification) in a very similar role. I had a brilliant and successful time there, but the opportunity to join Sypro excited me a lot!
That’s good to hear! What part of your job are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to getting out and meeting people face-to-face. Additionally, I’m excited about growing currently untapped markets for Sypro and becoming a valuable resource for the companies I’m speaking with. I see incredible potential and hope to play a key role in Sypro’s growth.
How about when you’re not at work, what do you get up to in your spare time?
With two kids and three dogs, not much! Weekends and free time are usually spent walking the dogs, going for the occasional run, watching my son play football, and enjoying general family time. I’m also a big Middlesbrough fan, so my son and I go to watch their games as much as we can.
Favourite film and why?
We had this conversation in the office the other day. It’s tough to pinpoint just one, but I love The Godfather series – The Godfather Part II is my favorite. I’m also a big fan of Inception and Shutter Island. My guilty pleasure would probably be The Bodyguard – ha! If I had to choose, though, I’d say either The Godfather Part II or The Shawshank Redemption.
We’ve heard you’re a strong runner. Any achievements that you’re especially proud of?
I used to be a decent runner, but not so much anymore – ha! I have a few achievements I’m proud of. I was ranked number one in the UK for a period until a certain Mo Farah knocked me off the top spot. I was lucky enough to compete in both the World and European Championships for Great Britain and represented England numerous times. I was also the National Champion over 10k, which was a great achievement, and I’ve won National Medals at five different distances. However, my proudest achievement was finishing 15th in the London Marathon. While 15th isn’t a position I’d normally be satisfied with, the runners ahead of me that day were some of the best there have ever been!
Wow, that’s incredible! What’s the main thing you wish to achieve with your new role?
I want to help Sypro grow significantly. My goal is to bring many new and large logos onto our platform, while also establishing Sypro in markets where we aren’t currently present. I’m really excited about what the next few years could hold.
Finally, what would you say makes Sypro stand out from the competition?
Compliance! Not only that, but also the people behind the tool – the knowledge and expertise they bring. All of this has been used to create a fully compliant contract management tool that can and will cater to all different types of contracts.
