We recently had the chance to get to know our new Business Development Manager, Becky Pemberton. From her commitment to streamlining processes in the construction industry to her love of outdoor adventures, we discovered more about Becky and the vital role she’ll play at Sypro.
Hi Becky, please could you tell us about your role as Business Development Manager at Sypro?
My main goal is to help simplify the processes in the construction industry. We all know how many hoops we have to jump through, and honestly, some days it feels like we’re building the hoops instead of jumping through them! By streamlining these processes, we make things easier for everyone involved, cutting down on the headaches and improving efficiency along the way.
You’re definitely at the right place for that! What did you do before joining the company?
I’ve been in the construction industry for over 18 years, starting out as a plasterer working alongside my dad. While that didn’t quite pan out, it gave me a solid understanding of the industry’s challenges. For the past 14 years, I’ve been focused on construction software, helping streamline processes and improve efficiencies by bringing tech-driven solutions to the field.
What part of your job are you looking forward to the most?
The software itself is among the best in the industry, and I’m excited to help more people realise just how much easier and more efficient things can be with it. On top of that, I have the opportunity to work alongside an incredible team and travel across the country, which makes the experience even more rewarding.
How about when you’re not at work, what do you get up to in your spare time?
Outside of work, I’m fortunate to live in beautiful Cornwall. I moved here because of the stunning landscapes and coastal lifestyle. When I’m not working, I’ll usually be exploring the outdoors, whether that’s hiking along the tors, enjoying the beaches, or discovering a new pub to frequent!
Sounds great! Favourite film and why?
This is a bit of a random one, but Con Air—I must have watched it over 30 times, and it never gets old. It’s the perfect mix of action, humor, and badass characters. The villains are over the top, and the one-liners are iconic. It’s just a fun, feel-good movie!
Where’s your favourite holiday destination?
I don’t really have a favourite holiday spot because I enjoy exploring new places every time I travel. But my favourite places I’ve been so far would be either Barbados or New Zealand.
Back to your role, what’s the main thing you wish to achieve?
My main goal is to make a real difference in the construction industry by simplifying processes and boosting efficiency. There are already enough challenges in construction, so I want to help make complex tasks easier and reduce the stress that comes with them.
