From his interest in F1 and exploring the UK, to how much he enjoys building relationships with customers, we sat down with Risk Manager’s Customer Success Manager, Will Toplass, to find out about how his Sypro journey has gone so far.
Hi Will. Could you please tell us about your job as Customer Success Manager?
My role is all about ensuring each and every customer gets the most out of our Risk Manager system. With 10 optional modules forming the suite, this journey begins pre-sale where I discuss with a customer what their needs are and then match this up with the correct areas of the system.
A lot of time is then put towards the execution of the implementation programme which makes it very clear to the customer the steps Sypro and themselves will go on before the system is fully integrated.
What were your initial thoughts of the Sypro?
I joined Sypro two and a half years ago when the group looked very different however, the organisation’s core ethos has stayed very much the same, with a focus on team spirit and an opportunity to always express individual opinion. Even though the group has five separate brands within, there is definitely a strong feeling of togetherness and that everyone is working to achieve the same goal.
What did you do before joining the company? Any skills that you think will benefit you in your new role?
I only had 1 year between finishing school and joining Sypro however, I spent that time attempting to start my own business, initially online marketing for hotels, which quickly became a tree surgery operation, my aim was to understand business and learn from mistakes as quickly as I could. I have a passion for details and really enjoy meeting with customers in person and solving their problems.
Good stuff! What do you get up to outside of work?
My passion is Formula 1. I think probably born from an appreciation to the small details in life, I love the sport for more than simply the racing. How two separate teams of 1,500+ people can build completely different cars which consistently lap within 0.01 seconds at 200+ mph on tracks across the world blows my mind.
I also really enjoy travelling around the U.K. I like camping, going for long walks and feel lucky to live on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
What part of your role have you enjoyed so far? Any tasks / projects that stand out?
I really enjoy meeting with our customers at the very beginning of their journey and working with them to simplify the complex task of implementing the system at their organisation. I can always sense the relief this gives a customer and is the start of a great relationship.
For the final question, what’s the next step in your job that you wish to achieve?
I want to continue to work with our current customer base and with the Sypro team to improve the details outside of the software itself. At the moment, it is solely myself working within the customer success team and I hope that the future will present an opportunity to grow this area of the business.
