Project Overview

Fife Council undertook some major works ranging from sea defences to town centre improvements. Projects included;

£10 million rebuild of the Kirkcaldy sea wall.
£10 million park and ride scheme at Halbeath.
£1.6 million town centre improvements at Cupar near St. Andrews.

The Kirkcaldy sea wall improvements are designed to protect the town from flooding, improve access to the beach and upgrade the promenade. The work is due to be completed by the end of 2014 and the main contractor is Volker Stevin.

The Halbeth Park and Ride will serve the new Forth Bridge Crossing. The main contractor is Robertson Group.

The Cupar project includes the refurbishment of the streetscape, traffic flow improvements and the relocation of the town’s historic Mercat Cross. Work is scheduled to be completed next summer. The main contractor is Will Brothers Ltd, based in County Mayo Ireland.
