The Sypro system is managing the NEC3 contract between Multifuel Energy Ltd (a JV between SSE and Wheelabrator Technologies) and their main contractor – Zurich based Hitachi Zosen Inova.
Hitachi Zosen is a global provider and contractor in the field of energy from waste facilities. Formally known as Von Roll Inova, Hitachi is one of the pioneers in the defining of advanced technologies in waste management.
The Multifuel site now known as ‘FM1’, is currently under construction, expectant to be fully operational in 2015. The facility will offer local jobs to approximately 50 full time operatives and at peak will employ around 750 staff during the construction phase.
The West Yorkshire based power station will produce low carbon electricity and heat, from fuels across Yorkshire and wider regions. To create this energy, waste-derived fuels, waste wood and biomass will be burned, all coming from industrial and commercial users. These fuels will be burned under controlled conditions, like existing power stations, to create a high temperature steam – this then used to create electricity.
Further development of Multifuel Ltd.
High demand in the market for energy, and the increased interest from fuel providers has allowed MEL (Multifuel Energy Ltd.) to further look into the construction of a second Multifuel site in the West Yorkshire region (FM2). Currently in the proposal process – Multifuel Energy Ltd has held a number of public exhibitions to show the plans to the local community.
How did Sypro help?
Sypro Contract Manager is being used on the £300 million multi-fuel energy plant at Ferrybridge Power Station in West Yorkshire.
Our software has enabled the contractor and client to easily view the live project to determine its curent status with regards to timescales and budgets.
As was the first project we had worked on in the Energy Sector, the introduction of Sypro Management to the Multifuel site was very exciting. We have held numerous Sypro training days with the different teams at the Ferrybridge site; alongside our sister company Docte Consulting who has provided NEC consultancy and training.
